These terms govern your use of UniBite, a food ordering service for the Misr International University (MIU) community, New Cairo campus. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.
1. What UniBite is
UniBite lets you order ahead from campus outlets and collect your order in person. We are an ordering platform, not a restaurant and not a delivery service. The food is prepared and sold by the vendor you order from. The vendor is responsible for the food itself — its preparation, its ingredients, its hygiene and its quality. UniBite records and sends your order to the restaurant. During cash-only operation, you pay the restaurant directly.
There is no delivery. Every order is collected by you, in person, at the vendor's counter.
2. Who may use it
- You need a valid MIU email address (@miuegypt.edu.eg) and must verify it before ordering.
- One account per person. Do not share your account or your password with anyone.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has access to it.
- The details you give us — your name and phone number in particular — must be accurate, because vendors use them to identify you at the counter.
3. Placing an order
- An order is a binding request to buy once you submit it. It is confirmed when the vendor accepts it.
- A vendor may decline an order — for example when an item has run out or the outlet is closing. If a declined order was paid by card, it is refunded in full.
- Prices, add-ons and availability are set by the vendor and can change. The price you see when you place the order is the price that applies to that order.
- Each order gets a pickup code. Show it at the counter to collect. Treat it as you would a ticket — anyone who has it may be able to collect your order.
- Preparation times shown in the app are estimates based on the vendor's recent orders, not guarantees.
4. Fees and payment
UniBite currently adds no service or convenience fees to new orders. Existing orders retain their recorded totals.
All amounts are in Egyptian pounds (EGP). The total you are shown is the total you pay; there are no charges beyond it. We may change the fee tiers, but never for an order you have already placed.
Payment is on collection, in cash at the counter, unless card payment is enabled on the platform. Where card payment is available, it is handled by Amazon Payment Services — your card details are entered on their page and never reach UniBite.
5. Collecting your order
- Collect promptly once you are notified that the order is ready. Food left at a counter does not keep.
- For orders covered by the pickup policy, the restaurant can report an unpaid cash order four hours after it is marked ready. New orders are blocked during executive review. An approved report bans ordering until full repayment to the restaurant, vendor confirmation, and executive clearance.
- Read the pickup, cancellation and refund policy. Orders covered by it are never automatically marked collected.
- You may have only one active order at a time, including at the same restaurant.
6. Changes, cancellations and refunds
- You can cancel from your account before the restaurant accepts. After acceptance, contact the restaurant directly; in-app customer cancellation is unavailable.
- A vendor may cancel an order before you collect it — for example if an item is unavailable. A cancelled order paid by card is refunded in full.
- If an item is unavailable, the vendor may offer you a replacement. You choose whether to accept it. If you accept a more expensive replacement you pay the difference; if you accept a cheaper one, or decline, the difference is refunded. If you do not answer within the time window shown, the order is cancelled and refunded.
- During the temporary cash-only mode, customers and restaurants handle missing or incorrect items and any cash refunds directly. UniBite does not collect or refund cash. Existing card payments remain subject to the payment provider’s refund process.
- Problems with the food itself — wrong item, quality, missing add-ons — are between you and the vendor. Raise it at the counter first. If that does not resolve it, file a complaint through UniBite and we will look at it.
7. Reviews
You may review a vendor you have ordered from, once per order. Reviews must describe your own experience. We remove reviews that are abusive, defamatory, contain personal information, or are not about an actual order. Removals are logged.
8. What you must not do
- Place orders you do not intend to collect and pay for.
- Use someone else's account, or someone else's payment method.
- Attempt to break, probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or to access data that is not yours.
- Scrape or bulk-copy vendor menus, prices or any other content from the service.
- Post abusive, threatening or unlawful content in notes, complaints or reviews.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we may withhold access while we investigate. Where we can, we will tell you why.
9. Availability
We try to keep UniBite running during campus hours, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Outlets set their own opening hours and can close or pause ordering at any time.
10. Our liability
UniBite is liable for the ordering and payment service it provides. We are not liable for the food itself, which is the vendor's responsibility, nor for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, ask the vendor directly before ordering. Menu descriptions in the app are supplied by vendors and may not list every ingredient.
11. Your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We keep the record of past orders, because it is the record of transactions between you and vendors. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change is material we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use UniBite after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Egypt have jurisdiction.
